Cardinal 788 Digital Indicator

Cardinal’s model 788 indicator is designed for growth and flexibility. With ever-changing system requirements, the 788 software can easily be modified to meet your specifications.

Loaded with Standard Features:
The 788 is loaded with standard features: a large 320 x 240 resolution, backlit, blue LCD display; full QWERTY alphanumeric keyboard; 14 programmable soft keys; two bi-directional RS-232 ports (one may be configured for RS-485); a PC-101 keyboard input connector, and one scale input card.

Keyboard Technology:
The 788 employs a built-in QWERTY alphanumeric keyboard to speed data entry operations. There are also 14 soft keys that can be defined for your application. Key legends, unique to your application, are shown in the display allowing the operator access only to those keys needed. This not only reduces the risk of error, but also lets you revise the key legends should your application change.

Power in the 788 Graphics Display:
The large 320 x 240 resolution, backlit, blue LCD display is one of the main features of the 788 indicator. Add a user-definable graphic display to the soft keys and you get an efficient man-machine interface. The bright blue LCD display provides a legend for each available key as well as a complete summary of weight transactions. The 788’s graphics capabilities can be employed in process control applications to present a changing visual depiction of the process in operation. Your imagination is the only limit!

Programmable Printing Formats:
Custom label and ticket printing formats may be programmed for the 788 using Cardinal’s “SmartWeigh” development package. Whether you require bar code labels, special ticket printing, customized forms printing, or end-of-day reports, your printing requirements can be designed and uploaded to the 788. Labels and form printing like YOU want it done!

Expansion Made Easy:
The 788 has six slots available for a variety of option cards. Using additional scale input cards, multiple scales can be connected to a single 788 and their weight data displayed simultaneously. Process control applications are easily satisfied with the addition of up to 32 lines of I/O, allowing the 788 to control a variety of peripheral devices. Each optional 8-channel I/O card connects to an auxiliary control panel with OPTO 22 I/O modules.

PC Keyboard:
The 788 includes a standard port for a 101 keyboard connection. The keyboard provides the entry of alphanumeric characters and control of soft keys, and the port also allows the addition of a laser scanner wedge for bar code reading.

Control Multi-Scale Operations:
You need only add three modular scale input cards to the standard 788 and you’re ready to control and display four scale weights simultaneously. Multiple tank weighing and multi-platform vehicle applications are specifically targeted for the 788 programmable instrument.

Batching with the 788:
With screen graphics, optional four scale inputs, and configurable Multi I/O interfacing, the 788 rewrites the book on batching and process control. The 788 can be configured to discharge ingredients sequentially, control a conveyor, and accumulate weight of the final collection tank. Data can be accumulated and stored by product identification and uploaded to the host PC at designated reporting times.

Cardinal’s “SmartWeigh” development software provides a flexible means of developing application software. Included is a unique simulation that allows verification of the proper operation before loading the program in the 788. From a simple key legend change to a complete process control system, your Cardinal representative can program the 788 to fit YOUR application (application programs used in commerce require review and approval by the responsible metrology authority).
